Lighting

All lighting within Painted dreams have come from either point or spotlights with no global illumination or ambient occlusion used. To simulate the subtle soft transitions in illumination within the main room a number of lights were used pointing above and below.

For the scenes which Sam is trapped inside the room, a slight blue tinge has been used to simulate a sterile and unsettling environment. The opposite effect was sought for the natural ending. For this a warm primary light was used to simulate the sun and two cool secondary lights were used to illuminate the shadows.
