About Me
I am a person who has an interest in a wide range of activities. I enjoy art, design, science/maths, technology, programming, circus, fitness and music. The key to all these interests is my passion for learning and the visual. Coupled with these passions, my self motivation and tenacity has allowed me to produce the many different works you see on this personal portfolio to a high level of quality.
Along with a keen interest in learning, I also enjoy the sharing and teaching of knowledge. This manifested itself in most areas of my life, from personal to work, with people coming to me for help and tuition.
Background
As a background, I was bought up surrounded by computers, science and electronics. This helped mould my interests and skill into what they are today. During high school, my knowledge in computers paved the way for a casual business in the field of computer maintenance – to this day I am still occasionally contracted for this purpose.
Later on, my interests changed slightly and I started to pursue a more visual learning area, that of design and art. Due to this I started to freelance in graphic design, primarily website construction.
At the moment my interests are in the melding of computers and art in the form of motion pictures and computer games.
University
In 2003, I started my Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, Diploma of Information Technology Professional Practice at the University of Technology Sydney. At the end of 2007, I completed this course obtaining a Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 85.96%.
This university course facilitated my learning pursuits and provided the framework for which I could purse my own projects.
Notable Projects
Throughout the years I have always been pursuing personal projects in varying areas. One of these projects was a short 3D animation called Painted Dreams. This animation was a finalist for the 2006 AEAF awards.
Another project I pursued, in 2002, was the design and construction of a HI-FI MP3 player that I dubbed the Aural Decipher. This project produced a wealth of interest which led to the magazine Atomic asking me to write a tutorial spanning 3 magazine issues (26 – 28) on how I went about constructing it.
Work
At the start of 2005, I was employed full time by Squiz.net as an Implementation Specialist working on corporate websites for companies and government department such as Austereo, DADHC and NSW Health. This position involved a range of tasks which included customer consultation and training, web design and development (HTML, CSS, Javascript, PHP) and some system administration tasks. I worked at Squiz.net for two years until I decided to resume full time University.
